Add a Little Sparkle to Your 4th of July July 03 2015, 0 Comments
It's almost the holiday weekend! Whether you're hosting family and friends, headed to a barbecue, going to the beach, or off to a pool party, here are a few fun ideas to help ramp up the festivities. Fun for the whole family to create, yet simple enough to execute, these little gems have left us with stars in our eyes.
Cheesecake Strawberries
This simple and sweet treat is festive and oh-so-delicious. Using fresh strawberries remove the stems and hull the centers. Without cutting too much off, slice the tip of the berry off to create a flat surface so they'll stand upright on the tray. Using a pastry or plastic sandwich bag, pipe the cheesecake filling into the berries then top with a blueberry. Repeat, eat, and enjoy!
Patriotic Popsicles
Made with fresh blueberries, strawberries, and yogurt, these popsicles are the perfect summer treat, giving all a cool way to beat the heat. Don't be intimidated by the presentation--to create the stripes in this patriotic pop, simply freeze for 30 minutes between adding each layer.
Star Spangled Lawn
Add an unexpected decor element to your 4th of July festivities this weekend! This is the perfect task for the kiddos to do while you perfect the table spread. Help them cut out a star-shaped stencil, arm them with a little bit of flour, and let them decorate to their heart's content.
Festive Fruit Salad
Fruit salad is a summertime staple, cool and refreshing. Add a little excitement to the classic dish by using a star-shaped cookie cutter to slice watermelon. Sprinkle in a few blueberries and sliced strawberries, and you'll have a fruit salad that will catch everyone's eyes. (At least until the fireworks begin.)
